Mamawatoto youth leaders Evans Meng'oru, Francis Musyoka and Roy Kiplagat led by Claudia Mbinda traveled from Kajiado East (Mashuru) to Kajiado Town Enchula Resort to take part in the "Climate Justice Coping Study in Arid and Semi- Arid Lands in Kenya 2023 Research Conference.

In addition there has been heavier rainfall than usual causing floods (KMD,2020 b). This lead to the longest widespread loss of livelihood and massive population displacement. Small holder rain fed agriculture and pastoralism are the major sources of livelihoods and well being which has intensified widespread vulnerability to climate change risks (Kalele Etal.,2021)

The issue of Climate Justice was highlighted as a stumbling block where ( Netwell et al,2020) argues that transformative Climate Justice requires actors to move beyond 'Silos' of mitigation and adaptation and bridge the gap between justice concerns in Climate change funding and interventions on the ground.

(Rao et al, ) states that the social differentiation, equity and power dynamics shape identities, social positioning and relations, roles and lived experience, thus affecting vulnerability and options for adaptation actions in many communities in Sub Saharan Africa.Resources and support for Climate action on the ground are awarded according to social hierarchy and whom you know.Up to this point the research is real and states our true experience as a grassroots organization implementing mitigation and adaptation measures in the community and schools since 2012.

MAY 13, 2023 - Drought eradication measures are what we are all about. We can't sit and watch animals die due to drought,  crops dry in the gardens due to drought, waste plastic materials which are deposited into the environment. Our youth group aims at educating our community about the importance of trees and why we should recycle and reuse plastics. Some of the reasons why we need to reuse polythene bags for nursery is to reduce their harmful effect on the earth's surface.

MAY 10, 2023 - Konza, Machakos, and Kajiado has been experiencing drought and famine in the past couple of years. This can be attributed to poor rainfall, desertification due to cutting trees to burn charcoal. Over grazing and lack of timely information regarding climate change.  Citizens continue to count their losses every year as they plant crops which end up drying in the shambas, cattle dying and wildlife carcasses along main roads.

Claudia Mbinda Mwende has been carrying a vision for empowerment through grassroots action in her community since birth
